Pichai Sundararasan (born June 10, 1972), known as Sundar Pichai, is an Indian-American computer technology executive who is the CEO of Alphabet Inc. and its subsidiary Google.
Early life and education
Sundar Pichai was born in Madurai district in Tamil Nadu. His father is Raghunatha Pichai and his mother is Lakshmi. He did his tenth standard at #Savakar #Vidyalaya School and his twelfth standard at #Vanavani School in Chennai. He then studied metallurgical engineering at IIT #Kharagpur and obtained a degree in economics from Stanford University. He later earned a management degree from the Wharton School of Management.
Sundar Pichai joined Google in 2004. He was instrumental in Google's suite of consumer software products. He is currently serving as the CEO of Google. On March 13, 2013, he became the head of the Android division after the resignation of Andy Rubin. He was the head of Google Maps, Research, Commerce, Advertising, Android, Chrome, Infrastructure, Google Apps, after the completion of the formation of Alphabet, a new joint venture of Google's relationship companies. He is set to take over as Google's CEO. From December 5, 2019, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who were the presidents of Alphabet, stepped down and appointed him as the sole CEO of both companies.
